Studio Italia represents the pinnacle of Italian furniture design. With generations of expertise, Italians have mastered the art of creating sleek, innovative designs through a blend of artisanal craftsmanship and innovation.
Suzanne McNamara talks with Joanna Hoeft about the Italian kitchen brand Poliform and the latest kitchen design trends that embody the essence of a modern home.
Joanna, Studio Italia’s director, admires Poliform kitchens for their sophisticated uniqueness. “They combine elements with a refined elegance without appearing over-designed. The integration of finishes, metal handles with gloss lacquer, and the use of fume glass doors with champagne or bronze frames create a seamless look. LED lighting, adjustable between warm and white, is recessed into cabinetry or glass shelves.”
On Studio Italia's website, and in store, Poliform collections showcase various styles, each defined by unique features, such as handle details, door thickness, and available finishes.
Joanna highlights the trend of integrating table elements with the kitchen benchtop, ranging from small snack tables to large dining tables. Metal lacquer finishes and diverse benchtop materials made in Italy, including ceramics, Corian, and stainless steel, add to the trend. Natural stone, such as marble, is carefully selected from local stone fabricators in New Zealand.
The process of designing and purchasing a Poliform kitchen involves collaboration from concept to completion with Studio Italia’s team. Manufacturing occurs in Northern Italy before the finished product is shipped to New Zealand for installation by Studio Italia’s experts.
“We guide clients through every step,” Joanna explains, “offering custom design services that include onsite or showroom consultations, plans, elevations and 3D renderings to help visualise every detail.”
Appliances are selected from a range available in New Zealand, with many clients opting for European brands such as Miele and Gaggenau, American brands like SubZero and Wolf, and local options, such as Fisher & Paykel.
